Kalona Quilt & Textile Museum houses nearly 200 quilts in the museum quilt collection. The collection was begun by Marilyn Woodin, quilt collector, and now curator for the museum with 32 quilts donated in the year 2000. Since that time benefactors have donated quilts and brought the collection to 200, which are kept in a humidity controlled, light controlled room. Quilt exhibits are on a rotating basis every three months with other collectors adding to the exhibit with loans of quilts. Kalona is known as the Quilt Capitol of Iowa.
